SPDRRMO CONDUCTS COORDINATING CONFERENCE
The Sorsogon Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (SPDDRMO) conducted Coordinating Conference held at Sangguniang Panlalawigan Session Hall, Capitol Compound Sorsogon City on May 16, 2024. Attending the conference were water districts in the province, the Bureau of Fire (BFP) and several LGU operated water utilities.
The conference centered on the need for water utilities and agencies, whose mandate includes the delivery of water, to be conscious of their primary mandate in this time of El Niño. SPDDRMO reminded attendees that El Niño is considered as a calamity, hence, the need for the whole of government to confront it, all for the benefit of the people.
The conduct of the conference is in adherence to DILG Memorandum Circular No. 2023-065 and Executive Order No. 21-2023.
Engr. Jomar H. Venus, Production Section Head, represented Casiguran Water District in the said conference. Other water districts who attended were – Pilar WD, Donsol WD, Barcelona WD, Bulan WD, Gubat WD and Irosin WD. LGU operated water systems of Juban, Pto. Diaz, Castilla and Magallanes as well as Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) were also in attendance.
Engr. Raden Dimaano, Head-SPDDRMO, expressed so much gratitude to Casiguran Water District for always augmenting water needs of some Provincial Government’s facilities – Sorsogon Provincial Hospital and Provincial Plant Nursery.
CWD management manifested its continuous and unconditional support to the Provincial Government and other government agencies who might be needing additional volume of water for their clienteles. CWD advised that scheduled water withdrawals, however, are to be done on off-peak hours.
