CWD SPONSORS WWD JOINT CELEBRATION

The Casiguran Water District (CWD) sponsored joint celebration of World Water Day (WWD) on March 22, 2024 at Orok Cold Spring Resort, Inlagadian, Casiguran, Sorsogon. CWD was joined by Sorsogon City Water District (SCWD), Primewater Infratructure Corporation (PWIC) and Abejo Waters Corporation (AWC).

The celebration was highlighted with Tree Planting Activity at Inlagadian watershed. Some 150 young trees were planted aimed of demonstrating true resolve to protect the environment. Guided with the local theme – Pagkakaisa sa Seguridad Pang Tubig, the officials and employees of participating water utilities hiked and navigated the steeply terrain to plant precious trees if only to assure steady output of Orok Spring in the coming years.

CWD Board members were all in attendance headed by Chairman Ruiz H. Jersey. Joining him were Vice Chairman Mamerto D. Te, Secretary/Member Engr. Brian B. Espedido, Director Neney V. Labalan and Director Eduardo T. Frivaldo. The CWD management was led by GM Eduardo P. Tejada.

Vice Chairperson Rachel Bella G. Jao and BOD Member Engr. Jonathan G. Fortades headed SCWD contingent. PWIC was represented by Sorsogon City Branch Manager Engr. Ronel Roger Pereyra who was joined by his staff. AWC Plant Manager Biff Bulanon and AWC personnel also graced the noble undertaking.  

Vice Chairman Te in his message emphasized that indeed water is so precious; its absence can cause turmoil and conflicts. He cited Bible passages to prove his point. He said that even in olden times people fight for water. He concluded that the world-wide theme – Water for Peace is indeed appropriate and timely. He encouraged everyone to continue supporting each other to attain peace thru the provision of water.

Director Frivaldo likewise supported the notion that water is an important ingredient of peace. SCWD Vice Chairperson Jao conveyed that different players in the water industry should continue working together to answer the ever-growing demand for safe water. She emphasized that there will always be complaints that may ripen into people’s unrest if water utilities fail to deliver safe water in a 24/7 basis.  

GM Tejada expressed gratefulness to all for taking time to participate in the celebration. The event maybe so simple but nevertheless a strong statement to the community, conveying the message that the protection of the environment is crucial for sustainable water supply for the present and coming generations. Portion of Sorsogon City is being supplied by CWD using Orok Spring as water source.

Engr. Pereyra of PWIC and Mr. Bulanon of AWC both expressed gratefulness to the host water district for giving that rare opportunity to participate in a worthwhile activity. They both expressed their commitment to support always noble endeavors towards the protection of watersheds.

After the short program the CWD’s H2O Band performed to the delight of participants. Each contingents brought their share of delicacies that produced a sumptuous meal.
