CWD JOINS THE GLOBAL CELEBRATION OF WORLD WATER DAY
In celebration of World Water Day, the Casiguran Water District conducted tree planting activity last March 19, 2021 at Orok Cold Spring Resort. The whole-day activity was participated by Casiguran Water District Board of Directors and Management led by Chairman Ruiz H. Jersey and General Manager Engineer Eduardo P. Tejada respectively.
Three hundred (300) young mahogany and narra trees, sourced out from the District’s Tree Nursery, were planted at the District’s watershed area by CWD family who came in full force, complete with uniform depicting the occasion: World Water Day. Some resort guests also joined the worthwhile endeavor.
The tree planting activity is in consonance with Local Water Utilities Administration (LWUA) Memorandum Circular 005 – 21 that enjoins all water districts to participate and conduct appropriate activities to create awareness and generate support in valuing water in this time of pandemic.
The District adopted the international theme for 2021 – “Valuing Water.” It seeks to focus awareness on the global water crisis. The theme also speaks on focusing attention on the importance of freshwater and advocating for its sustainable management.
The CWD sponsored activity emphasized the importance of water and its sources. It is a strong statement that we can actually preserve our water resources and the same time provide a better and healthy environment for the present and future generations.
Trees serve as natural sponges, collecting and filtering rainfall and releasing it slowly to streams, springs and rivers. Trees are also known to be the most effective land cover for maintenance of water quality. Hence, the BOD and Management rightfully conducted again the said tree planting activity in time for the celebration.
The activity also gave CWD employees not only the much needed break from the daily grind of office works but also a healthy team-building opportunity without having to compromise mandated health protocols. Sumptuous meals and drinks were served during the affair.
