CWD CONDUCTS IMPROMTU ISO ORIENTATION

On February 5, 2021, the Sorsogon City Water District (SCWD) with its partners, Primewater Infrastructure and Abejo Waters, conducted benchmarking at Casiguran Water District, relative to the former’s intent to develop a Quality Management System (QMS) certifiable to ISO 9001:2015.

The benchmarking activity turned out to be an orientation of some sort to SCWD employees and its partners. CWD ISO Team members, namely – Ralph Louie H. Rafer, Cecilio E. Habalo Jr and Leandro Duque, gladly shared their knowledge and experiences in their ISO Journey.

Basic information on ISO 9001:2015, Quality Management Principles and 5’s were discussed by Mr. Duque, Mr. Rafer and Mr. Habalo respectively. The sharing and talks started at 2:00 PM and was held at Aquador’s Hub, 3rd Floor, CWD Corporate Center.

SCWD employees was headed by Annabelle Ancheta, the designated SCWD ISO Coordinator; Primewater was represented by Branch Manager – Engr. Henrickson Latonio while Prime Water Plant Manager Biff Bulanon also graced the occasion.  They were unified in one objective of coming up with their respective QMS all with the end of view of improving the delivery of safe water to consumers in the City of Sorsogon.

The noble aspiration of developing QMS for SCWD was a brainchild of its Interim General Manager who, incidentally is also the General Manager of CWD: Engr. Eduardo P. Tejada. CWD is expected to be ISO 20019:2015 Certified by next month.

The more than two hours benchmarking cum orientation, was a sight to behold, where two water districts share its time, talent and treasure, in a very friendly atmosphere, all for the greater benefit of the public they both vowed to serve.

The CWD designated speakers gave premium and emphasis on the ultimate feature of QMS: Customer Focus. It was discussed that customers are grouped into external and internal. Thus, QMS will not only assure the welfare of SCWD’s water consumers but also its employees.

GM Tejada also shared that being ISO 2009:2015 certified assures the continual improvement of the agency.
