CWD JOINS INTERNATIONAL COASTAL CLEANUP 2024 EFFORTS

Saturday, September 21, 2024 — The Casiguran Water District employees together with BOD Member Eduardo T. Frivaldo, participated in the International Coastal Cleanup Day in the Municipality of Casiguran, Sorsogon.

In line with International Cleanup Day, themed “Clean Seas for the Blue Economy,” the office of the Municipal Mayor of Casiguran, led by Hon. Mayor Maria Minez R. Hamor, issued the Executive Order No. 64 Series of 2024 on September 20th. An executive order declaring the implementation of the International Coastal Cleanup Day in the Municipality of Casiguran, Sorsogon.

Coastal Cleanup Day is a global event dedicated to the preservation and restoration of our coastlines, where communities around the world come together to clean up their local shores and waterways.

The Casiguran Water District together with the civil society organizations, business sector, LGU employees, Kababaihan, Sangguniang Kabataan, Senior Citizens, the education sector, and other agencies including PNP and BFP, gathered at the PNP Pier Site in Plaza Escudero at 6:00 AM for registration and a brief orientation before starting the cleanup at 6:30 AM. Together, they collected thousands of pounds of debris, including plastics, fishing gear, and other waste, showcasing their strong commitment to environmental preservation.

According to BOD Chairman Ruiz H. Jersey, the participation of CWD exemplifies a strong commitment to environmental stewardship and community responsibility. This proactive engagement reflects the Water District’s dedication not only to delivering essential services but also to enhancing the overall well-being of both the community and the environment.
