Water Wisdom: Fridays Fuel Knowledge for New Concessionaires

January 19, 2024 – In an effort to enhance consumer awareness and promote responsible water usage, the Commercial Section of Casiguran Water District is conducting weekly seminars for new water concessionaires every Friday. The sessions, led by the esteemed Head of the Commercial Section, Mr. Cecilio E. Habalo Jr., aim to inform participants about their responsibilities as well as the district’s rich history and the intricacies of water service contracts, responsibilities, imposition of fines and penalties, as well as how bills are served and meters are read.

Mr. Habalo, with years of experience in the water industry, expressed the significance of these seminars in fostering a better understanding between the water district and its consumers. “Our goal is to ensure that our consumers are well-informed about their responsibilities as water concessionaires. By providing comprehensive information, we empower them to make informed choices and use water efficiently,” he emphasized.

During the seminars, participants are enlightened about their roles in maintaining a sustainable water supply. The topics covered include the proper usage of water resources, reporting leakages promptly, and adhering to conservation measures. This proactive approach not only helps in preserving the precious resource but also contributes to the longevity of the water infrastructure.

One of the crucial aspects discussed in these sessions are the fines and penalties associated with non-compliance. Mr. Habalo clarified that these measures are in place not only to discourage wasteful practices but also to ensure fairness and accountability among the concessionaires. “It’s essential for consumers to be aware of the consequences of violating regulations. This not only protects the integrity of the water system but also ensures a fair and just system for all users,” he stated.

The seminars also shed light on the often-overlooked process of meter reading and bill serving. Clear explanations were provided on how water meters work, the importance of accurate readings, and how bills are calculated. This transparency is designed to avoid any confusion or misunderstandings that consumers may have about their water usage charges.

The initiative to conduct these seminars is part of the Water District’s commitment to provide quality services to its consumers. By ensuring that concessionaires are well-informed about their responsibilities and the District’s regulations, the water district aims to create a community that actively participates in the sustainable management of water resources.

Participants in these seminars have expressed appreciation for the informative sessions, noting that it has clarified many aspects of their responsibilities and rights as water concessionaires. The district encourages all new water concessionaires to attend these weekly seminars to foster a community that values and actively participates in the responsible use of water resources.
