Improvised Overhead Tank Installed: Solution to Water Supply Challenges

Considered as innovative move aimed of addressing water supply challenges, the Casiguran Water District (CWD) led by Engr. Jomar Venus together with Bernardo Bo, has successfully installed improvised overhead tanks for concessionaires from Somal-Ot (Ruel Marquez) and Timbayog-Jardin (Jean Habana) on January 22, 2024. The noble initiative, conceptualized by CWD Management, has been transformed into reality under the skilled hands of Engr. Jomar Venus.

The installation of these tanks comes as a strategic response to water supply issues faced by concessionaires situated at relatively higher elevations or at end-point of the water system. The tank, utilizing empty chlorine drums placed in an elevated metal stand, is designed to alleviate water scarcity problems during peak hours, ensuring a more consistent, steady, safe and reliable water supply for concessionaires located in areas with the said inherent disadvantage.

During off-peak hours, water flows into the elevated tank until it is filled up. The tank is equipped with automatic valve shutter to spare the user from manual operation. At peak hours, the stored water is ready for use. The desired 24/7 water supply is attained.

GM Engr. Eduardo P. Tejada underscored the significance of this initiative. Engr. Jomar Venus, the engineer responsible for turning the concept into reality, expressed pride in contributing to a project that directly addresses the water supply concerns of the concessionaire since last year.  “The fabrication of these improvised tanks required careful planning and execution. It’s fulfilling to see the positive impact it will have on the daily lives of our concessionaires.”

One of the noteworthy aspects of this endeavor is the district’s commitment to public service by shouldering all expenses associated with the installation of the mini-reservoir. The entire project, from conception to implementation, comes at no cost to the concessionaires.

This forward-thinking approach by CWD not only highlights the district’s ability to adapt to the evolving needs of its community but also emphasizes its character of service beyond the ordinary. CWD is reinforcing its role as a community-centric organization that places the needs of its concessionaires at the forefront.

As the free water storage come into operation, the Casiguran Water District reaffirms its commitment to innovation and service excellence, setting a precedent for addressing unique challenges in water supply and reinforcing its dedication to the well-being of the communities it serves.
